Manage Groups
The Manage Groups section in Visual Guard allows administrators to create, modify, and organize groups used for access control. Groups help simplify user management by allowing administrators to assign roles, permissions, or policies to multiple users at once.
From the Groups management page, administrators can perform several actions such as creating new groups, editing existing ones, assigning users or roles, and updating permissions associated with a group. This centralized management helps maintain consistency and ensures that access rights are aligned with organizational roles and responsibilities.
By managing groups effectively, administrators can streamline security administration, reduce manual configuration, and maintain a structured approach to user access control within the system.
Visual Guard allows administrators to create groups of user accounts to simplify access management and security configuration. By organizing users into groups, administrators can manage permissions and roles more efficiently, especially when multiple users require the same level of access.
A group can include different types of members, making it flexible and suitable for various organizational structures. Once users or other entities are added to a group, administrators can assign roles, permissions, or policies at the group level, and all members of the group will automatically inherit those settings.
A user group may contain the following members:
- Visual Guard user accounts – Individual users created and managed directly within Visual Guard.
- Visual Guard groups – Other groups defined in Visual Guard, allowing administrators to create hierarchical group structures for better organization.
- Windows user accounts – Users imported from the Windows environment or Active Directory.
- Windows groups – Existing Windows or Active Directory groups that can be integrated into Visual Guard for centralized access management.
By supporting both Visual Guard and Windows-based accounts and groups, administrators can easily align security management with their organization’s existing user directory and access control policies.
