Create Windows Account or Group

The Create Windows Account or Group feature allows administrators to create and manage Windows user accounts and groups within Visual Guard. It simplifies the process of defining Windows-based identities and associating them with Visual Guard applications, roles, and permissions for centralized access management.

Note: You will be allowed to access the user accounts only if you have been assigned the privilege. Refer special roles section for more details on privilege


Follow the steps below to create a Windows account or group:

Step 1: Login to the Repository under which user account(s) is to be created. 


Prerequisite: Please ensure to make this setting under your domain section.

Under the Configure Actions section –> Select Create under the Action while creating user field –> Click OK.


Step 2: Select the Create Windows Account or Group menu using one of the options below:

  • Right click on the Repository Name provided on the Left Navigation Panel and select Create Windows Account or Group menu (A).

OR

  • Go to Actions –> select Create Windows Account or Group menu (B).

OR

  • Go to the users dashboard and click on Add –> Create Windows Account or Group (C)

Step 3: You will get a popup where you have to provide details to create the account.

A – Domain Information

  • Domain – Select the domain in which the Windows account or group will be created.
  • Location – Select the location or organizational unit within the selected domain where the account or group will be created.

B – User Account Information

  • User Name – Create a name of the Windows account to be created.
  • Password – Create a password for the new Windows account.
  • Confirm Password – Re-enter the password to confirm that it has been entered correctly.
  • First Name – Enter the first name of the user associated with the account.
  • Last Name – Enter the last name of the user associated with the account.
  • Email – Enter the user’s email address. This can be used for identification and communication purposes.

C – Role Assignment

Select the role (check box) to enable the Grant button or double click on the role and it will be assigned

Select the role (check box) to enable the Revoke button or double click on the role and it will be removed/revoked


Step 4: Once roles are assigned click on OK and the account will be created and seen on the dashboard as shown below.


Step 5: Once the accout is create you can logout and login using the Windows Authentication by Credential option.

Note: Username will be – domain\name
